Patrick Murphy to the KBO.
The Texas Rangers lost one piece of solid pitching depth this week.
They released Patrick Murphy so he could sign a contract in Korea. He'll play for the KBO's KT Wiz, according to Dan Kurtz.
The right-handed Murphy had just come back stateside after pitching well in Japan in 2024.
He had spent the entire season at Triple-A Round Rock. He had a 3.18 ERA down there before his departure.
The 30-year old began his pro career as a third-round pick by Toronto in 2013.
He eventually made his MLB debut in 2020, and he has appeared in games for both the Blue Jays and Nationals.

In 39.2 innings in the big leagues, Murphy has a 4.76 ERA.
The Twins also had Murphy in their minor league system but never brought him to the majors.
He'll now bring his approach as a ground-ball specialist back across the Pacific to try and keep his baseball career alive.
