If you believe New York Yankees second baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr. will win the 2025 MLB Home Run Derby, you might find yourself in rare company.
That's nothing against Chisholm, who had 17 home runs and a career-high .872 OPS at publication. He's already posted 2.7 bWAR in 63 games and has a chance at his first 30-homer season, assuming he avoids another IL stint.
However, the odds aren't in Chisholm's favor. The FanDuel Sportsbook currently gives Chisholm +1400 odds of winning the Derby, the worst among the eight contestants.
Seattle Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh (+280) leads all players, with Pittsburgh Pirates center fielder Oneil Cruz not far behind at +300.
Here are the full Home Run Derby odds as of Saturday, July 12:
Player | Home Run total | Odds |
Cal Raleigh, C, Seattle Mariners | 38 | +280 |
Oneill Cruz, CF, Pittsburgh Pirates | 16 | +300 |
James Wood, LF, Washington Nationals | 24 | +480 |
Matt Olson, 1B, Atlanta Braves | 17 | +700 |
Byron Buxton, CF, Minnesota Twins | 20 | +900 |
Junior Caminero, 3B, Tampa Bay Rays | 23 | +1000 |
Brent Rooker, DH, Athletics | 19 | +1000 |
Jazz Chisholm Jr, 2B, New York Yankees | 17 | +1400 |
“I’m just going out there to have fun,” Chisholm told reporters on Friday. “I ain’t trying to think that hard about it. I’m not even gonna really practice for it.”
Unsurprisingly, Aaron Judge is the last Yankees player to win the Home Run Derby. Judge defeated then-Minnesota Twins slugger Miguel Sanó in 2017 at Marlins Park.
First basemen Tino Martinez and Jason Giambi won the 1997 and 2002 derbies, respectively. Second baseman Robinson Canó set a derby record with 12 final-round homers in his 2011 victory.
This year’s derby takes place at Truist Park in Atlanta.
