The Arkansas Razorbacks are set to begin their 2025 season on Saturday afternoon inside the confines of Razorback Stadium against the Alabama A&M Bulldogs.

This is the first season since 2022 that Arkansas has opened the season in Fayetteville. In each of the previous two seasons, the Hogs have been in Little Rock for the season-opener. It’s also the third season in a row they’ll face an FCS team to start things off.

The Razorbacks and head coach Sam Pittman are looking to build on a 2024 campaign that saw them go an even 6-6 in the regular season. The Hogs capped off the year with a 39-26 win over Texas Tech in the Liberty Bowl.

After the season ended, Arkansas was pillaged in the transfer portal and lost a total of 39 players. To combat that, it added 31 players, and several of them will be called upon early this season to make an impact.

The Hogs also return all three of their coordinators in offensive coordinator Bobby Petrino, defensive coordinator Travis Williams and special teams coordinator Scott Fountain. On top of Petrino’s return, he’s working with redshirt senior and second-year Razorback quarterback Taylen Green.

As far as what Pittman hopes to see out his team in the season-opener, he said Monday he wants his team to play consistently hard.

“I want to see a fast, tough team,” Pittman said. “A team that plays hard. I want to see a team that if you go, ‘Who played the hardest? I don’t know what the score is, but who played the hardest?’ I want it to be the Hogs. That’s a reflection of our team and our coaching staff, and to be honest with you, a reflection of our state, a state of a lot of hard-working people. And that’s what we want to be.”
