WATCH: Tony Alford calls, offers 5-star recruit attending Ohio State-Texas game

In hilarious, troll-like fashion, Tony Alford and the Michigan Wolverines offered a 5-star recruit…while he was in the stands at the Ohio State-Texas Football game:

The Michigan-Ohio State rivalry truly knows no boundaries.

While on a trip to Columbus for the Ohio State vs. Texas game on Saturday, 2027 five-star athlete Myson Johnson-Cook was offered by Michigan running backs coach Tony Alford, who called him during the game.

The 6-foot-2, 220-pounder hails from St. Louis and was in the stands, as you can see in the video above, while he got the call from Alford offering him a scholarship to Michigan. He already held offers from other blue bloods like Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Florida State, Notre Dame, Texas, Miami and more before getting the call from Alford and the Wolverines. Johnson-Cook is ranked No. 31 overall, No. 2 from the state of Missouri and the No. 2 athlete in his recruiting cycle, according to 247Sports’ composite.

Alford must have known what he was doing before making that phone call…and my God, I love it. Ryan Day and the Buckeyes have offered players that are highly interested in Michigan solely because they didn’t want them to be playing in Ann Arbor. Alford doing something like this is a great move for Michigan, and hopefully Johnson-Cook becomes a bit more interested in the Wolverines because of this move.

And even if Johnson-Cook doesn’t end up a Wolverine, it shows that Alford is aggressive on the recruiting trail and is willing to go head-to-head with his old employer. Whether Johnson-Cook ultimately picks Michigan or not, the Wolverines aren’t afraid to recruit like this, even in the heart of enemy territory.
