Some European Ryder Cup hopefuls playing this week. Is it too late to impress Luke Donald?

European Ryder Cup captain Luke Donald may have already decided on his six captain's picks but a few hopefuls are playing DP World Tour this week.

The six automatic qualifiers for the European team were locked in last Sunday. The other six Ryder Cup picks will be announced Monday by captain Luke Donald.

But perhaps, for some, there's still a last chance to impress?

Several European team Ryder Cup hopefuls are in the field this week in Switzerland at the Omega European Masters at Crans-sur-Sierre Golf Club on the DP World Tour. Maybe a win or a top-10 changes things for Donald but who knows.

Aaron Rai acknowledges the crowd on the fifth green during the third round of the 2025 Betfred British Masters hosted by Sir Nick Faldo at The Belfry.

None of the golfers ranked Nos. 6 through 10 in the Euro rankings after playing but there are others on the fringe of a Ryder Cup selection in action:

  • 11. Matt Fitzpatrick
  • 12. Matt Wallace
  • 14. Marco Penge
  • 15. Aaron Rai
  • 16. Jordan Smith
  • 18. Nicolai Hojgaard
  • 26. Alex Noren

Rasmus Hojgaard, who's already on the team after finishing fifth in automatic qualifying, is also playing.

Other names of note in the field include Wyndham Clark and Erik van Rooyen, with the PGA Tour FedEx season over and the Fall series not starting for two weeks. Also, the PGA Tour Champions has the week off, so that allowed Miguel Angel Jimenez a chance to play in Switzerland.

Again, it's too late to earn Ryder Cup points but maybe there's time to get Donald's attention, assuming he hasn't already decided his six picks.
