Burton Albion have signed defender Toby Sibbick on a two-year deal from Wigan Athletic.

The 26-year-old Uganda international, who also has an additional 12-month option in his Brewers contract, moves for an undisclosed fee.

It was less than 12 months ago that Sibbick joined League One rivals Wigan from Scottish side Hearts on a two-year contract.

The former AFC Wimbledon and Barnsley defender made 39 appearances across all competitions in his solitary campaign with the Latics.

Burton boss Gary Bowyer says he has "always loved" how Sibbick plays, admitting he tracked his career "closely" and watched him play at Hearts when he was in charge of Dundee.

"He will add physicality to our back line with his size and pace and his ability to defend duels will help with how we want to play this year," Bowyer told Burton's website.
