As DJ Lagway prepares for his first full season as Florida’s starting quarterback, he’s adding another NIL deal to his portfolio. He’s also teaming up with a Gators national champion.
Lagway has signed an NIL deal with Chipotle and released a commercial via social media. He starred in the ad alongside Walter Clayton Jr., who was part of Florida’s national championship basketball team last year before heading to the NBA. Lagway has a $3.7 million On3 NIL Valuation.
The ad – titled “Next In Line” – sees Clayton tell Lagway he’s the next Florida star to step into the spotlight. The two then share a meal together at the end as Clayton says, “Gators don’t back down.”
Clayton played two seasons at Florida after transferring from Iona and was the star of the Gators’ national title team this past year. A consensus first team All-American and SEC Male Athlete of the Year, he eventually went as the No. 18 overall pick in the NBA Draft to the Utah Jazz.
Lagway, meanwhile, showed flashes of his potential on the football field after taking over for an injured Graham Mertz. Florida went 6-1 in games he started. Now fully healthy, according to head coach Billy Napier, the former Five Star Plus+ prospect will look to build on that strong start to his college career as the Gators’ full-time starter.
More on DJ Lagway’s On3 NIL Valuation
At $3.7 million, DJ Lagway’s On3 NIL Valuation ranks No. 6 in college football this season. It also puts him at No. 7 in the On3 NIL 100, the first of its kind and defacto NIL ranking of the top 100 high school and college athletes ranked by their On3 NIL Valuation.
In the lead-up to the 2025 season, Lagway cashed in on the NIL front. He was part of Beats by Dre’s “Beats Elite” class last week and gifted headphones to his teammates through the deal. He also signed a deal with T-Mobile as part of the brand’s Friday Night 5G Lights program and filmed a commercial alongside Patrick Mahomes and Rob Gronkowski.
Lagway’s NIL portfolio includes deals with Gatorade, Nintendo and Epic Games, as well as Leaf Trading Cards and the Florida-focused NIL collective, Florida Victorious. He launched the Lagway Foundation in partnership with UF Health earlier this year.
Florida is making its final preparations for the season opener this week against Long Island. Kickoff is set for Saturday at 7 p.m. ET.
