Suns sign Devin Booker to historic contract extension

Devin Booker just cashed in on a crazy contract.

The Suns may be in the process of dismantling their roster, but one thing is still for certain.

It's clear that Devin Booker is the Suns' franchise player and is still the player whom they envision building their future around.

A report about his contract on Wednesday night further supported that.

What is the update on Booker's contract?

ESPN's Shams Charania reported that Devin Booker agreed to a 2-yr/$145 million contract extension.

This is reported as the highest AAV for any contract in NBA history at $72.5 million.

The contract will keep him with the Suns through the 2029-30 season.

NBA MVP and champion Shai Gilgeous-Alexander recently signed a deal with an AAV of $71.25 million, but that record didn't stand very long after Booker's deal was done.

With how the salary cap is being changed each year, it wouldn't be surprising to see this AAV record be broken soon, with several talented players up for lucrative extensions over the next couple of seasons.

In 75 games in the 2024-25 NBA season, Booker averaged 25.6 PPG, 4.1 RPG and 7.1 APG.
