Report: Bayern Munich execs not aligned on Chelsea’s Christopher Nkunku

Will there be changes at Bayern Munich?

One of the hottest names being linked to Bayern Munich over the past few weeks has been former RB Leipzig star and current Chelsea FC outcast Christopher Nkunku.

Mostly known for his work as an attacker who can thrive centrally, Nkunku also can play wing, which provides the kind of versatility that the Bavarians are looking for in their quest to bring in an attacker.

Per Kicker’s Georg Holzner, though, there is internal disagreement over Nkunku, which could mean a potential move is in jeopardy (via @iMiaSanMia):

There are reservations over Christopher Nkunku among the club’s bosses, even if the Frenchman were to be available on loan.

Nkunku is a quality central attacker, but his play at wing is not anything special and he would also carry a heavy salary. In addition, it is unclear if he would be okay with a bench role upon Jamal Musiala return from injury in a few months.

Bayern Munich got off to a red-hot start this season and we are thrilled with the early returns. With the end of the transfer window coming up, there is still much to discuss, so let’s not waste any more time. This is what we have on tap for this edition of the Bavarian Podcast Works — Flagship Show:

  • It’s not quite the morning after, but let’s talk about Bayern Munich’s massive 6-0 win over RB Leipzig and what it means.
  • Lennart Karl will have a great duo to study — the relentless energy and attacking aggression of Luis Diaz and the brilliant aloofness of Michael Olise.
  • Can Serge Gnabry hold down the fort?
  • Joshua Kimmich is a constant…and a necessity.
  • The backline still needs a big test.
  • Bayern Munich could miss out on Nick Woltemade in 2026 as the bidding could open up to other clubs.
  • Bayern Munich might have the right approach, but the wrong PR campaign for its approach to finishing the transfer window.
