Will the 76ers able to re-sign Quentin Grimes ?
Re-signing Quentin Grimes remains a top priority for the Philadelphia 76ers this offseason. The 25-year-old guard is heading to a massive payday as he enters this offseason as a free agent.
According to NBA insider Tony Jones, the 76ers remained focused on retaining Grimes, as the team is confident they can re-sign him. As a restricted free agent, the 76ers will have the option to match any offer that Grimes receives.
Grimes, who was traded from the Dallas Mavericks to the 76ers last season was a bright spot during the final stretch of the regular season, averaging 21.9 points and 4.5 assists in 28 games.
His play allowed to raise his value around the league heading into the offseason as a free agent
The 2024-25 season was challenging for the 76ers team, which was without its two stars, Joel Embiid and Paul George, for extended stretches. Despite that, Grimes managed to give the team a much-needed scoring boost and reasons to be optimistic heading into the offseason.
So far this offseason, the 76ers recently re-signed Kyle Lowry to a one-year deal along with signing Trendon Watford and Eric Gordon.
Jones noted that Grimes's market value is virtually nonexistent, giving the 76ers the highest chance to retain him.
What the final contract number is remains to be seen; reports suggest that Grimes is looking for a deal in the range of $25 million.
All things point to the 76ers being able to retain the young guard.
