Tennessee senior tight end Miles Kitselman joined Beyond the Orange sponsored by Knoxville Smiles to detail his journey to Rocky Top and so much more. His most recent growth was becoming a main leader after Nico Iamaleava left in spring.
“You just have to step for your team,” Kitselman said. “You have guys questioning what the future is going to look like. You see guys doubting. You are a coward if you don’t step up and say this is what is going to happen and rally the troops. We had multiple guys on our team do that and it made us stronger and better.”
After a wintertime injury, Kitselman had to dig deep as a leader when he was sidelined.
“Obviously you never want to be injured,” Kitselman said. “You always want to be out there but under the circumstances your leadership doesn’t change. Those guys look up to you and they see your body language and how you carry yourself. You can’t let those young guys down. You always carry yourself with the standard. No matter whether you are out there or not you have to still be a leader. Even on the sideline, being able to be a coach the game just makes you so much better as a player. There is so many layers to this game.”
Tennessee’s starting tight end in all 13 games during the 2024 College Football Playoff season, Kitselman led the unit with 301 receiving yards, four receiving touchdowns and one rushing score at Georgia.
