Tigers Hit Milestone Not Seen in 12 Years After Zach McKinstry News Wednesday originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The Detroit Tigers faced the Tampa Bay Rays on Wednesday at Comerica Park, trailing 7-3 heading into the ninth inning in a game started by familiar face and starting pitcher Reese Olson.
The Tigers' day was noteworthy not just for the action on the field but also for the news that second baseman/utility man Zach McKinstry was named to the American League All-Star team in place of Astros shortstop Jeremy Pena.
McKinstry's addition helped the Tigers reach a milestone not seen since the 2013 team which included several fan favorites who joined the action at Citi Field in Queens, New York City.
"The Tigers 5 All-Stars are their most since having 6 in 2013," Tigers PR wrote on X.
"That group: Miguel Cabrera, Prince Fielder, Torii Hunter, Jhonny Peralta, Max Scherzer, Justin Verlander."

"Shame...Tork should be on there too. Damn shame actually," another fan said.
"Probably could have a couple more too," another fan said.
The Tigers ended up losing 7-3, failing to reach the 60-win mark on the season and settling for two wins in three games against manager Kevin Cash's team.
The next series will once again test the Tigers' mettle as they are scheduled to face the Seattle Mariners, who trailed the New York Yankees in the early going of their Wednesday night matchup.
The Mariners previously swept a three-game series against the Pittsburgh Pirates but appeared on the verge of losing their second straight against the Yankees on Wednesday.
