For the first time in her career, Indiana Fever superstar Caitlin Clark will play the role of a team captain for the upcoming WNBA All-Star Game in Indianapolis on July 19. The 23-year-old earned this honor after receiving the most votes from the fans in the two rounds of All-Star voting.

Being captain also entails drafting her own team. Clark did just that against contending captain Napheesa Collier of the Minnesota Lynx, with the All-Star draft being aired via ESPN on Tuesday

As she promised, Clark drafted both of her Fever teammates to her squad. Aliyah Boston was her first overall pick as a starter, while Kelsey Mitchell was her first selection in the reserves pool.

One player who will not be on Team Clark for the big game is her rival, Angel Reese of the Chicago Sky. This is after Clark decided to pass on the opportunity to draft Reese on her team not once, but twice.

After Clark and Collier finished drafting four starters on each of their teams, it was time to move on to the reserves pool, which the coaches across the WNBA voted on. Reese was part of the reserves along with 11 other players.

Since Clark picked first in the starters round, it was Collier who got the chance to make the first selection for the reserves, which she used on Lynx teammate Courtney Williams.

As mentioned previously, Clark used her first reserve pick on Mitchell. Collier then scooped up veteran guard Skylar Diggins on her team. Clark had another opportunity to get Reese on her team, but decided to pass on her for a second time. The Fever star opted for Seattle Storm forward Gabby Williams.

Reese was finally off the board after Collier picked her as her third reserve, making the Sky forward the 13th overall pick of the WNBA All-Star Game draft.

Unfortunately for fans who were hoping for a potential team-up between Clark and Reese, this wasn't going to be the case. There's always next year, though, assuming that both players are named All-Stars for their third consecutive year.
