The Denver Nuggets have been undergoing massive changes even before the offseason started. People around the league were shocked when they fired head coach Michael Malone and general manager Calvin Booth. It wasn't much as the decision to fire them, but more the timing of the move that perplexed people.
Those moves occurred just days before the end of the regular season, which meant the Nuggets would enter the playoffs not with their championship-winning coach, but with an interim head coach, David Adelman. Some thought the Nuggets were doomed, but they defeated the Los Angeles Clippers in the opening round in seven games.

The Nuggets challenged the Oklahoma City Thunder in the second round, forcing them to a seven-game series. However, injuries started to catch up with the Nuggets down the stretch, as Michael Porter Jr. was suffering from a shoulder injury and Aaron Gordon was dealing with a hamstring injury.
One of the first major moves the Nuggets made in the offseason was the decision to send Porter Jr. and a 2032 unprotected first-round pick to the Brooklyn Nets for Cameron Johnson. Following the move, Porter Jr. sent a message to Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray.
"The two guys where were there with me along the whole journey, Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic, I appreciate you guys [for] accepting me to the team," Porter Jr. said. "You guys already had your two-man game going on and when I came there, you guys immediately made me feel comfortable with my game and you guys put me in a position to succeed.
"I want to thank all my teammates throughout the years over there in Denver. It's been great getting to play with you guys and eventually win a championship."

Johnson is coming off career-highs in points per game and field goal percentage. Porter Jr. will now be able to hone his skills without feeling like he's impeding on Jokic and Murray's two-man game and could become a more well-balanced player with the Nets.
The Nuggets will now hope their series of moves between the Johnson trade, the Jonas Valanciunas trade, and bringing back Bruce Brown will be enough to help them contend in what should be a loaded Western Conference once again.
