Wow!
Oba Femi and Je’Von Evans were the main event of tonight’s (Sun., Aug. 24, 2025) Heatwave premium live event in Lowell, Massachusetts, as they went toe-to-toe for the NXT championship. They somehow managed to put together one of the very best NXT matches of the year, with some truly insane sequences, near falls, and a bit of controversy to go with it.
This was a fantastic sequence:
That uppercut when Evans was coming off the ropes was perfect.
Then, we got some controversy. The ref took a bump, and a new ref showed up to count to three when Femi’s leg was under the ropes. The official who started the match recovered in time to see what happened and called off the finish, overruling the second referee.
The match continued, and Femi ended up throwing Evans over the ropes and through the announcer’s table, the second time over the past week Je’Von has taken that bump.
The finish:
Like I said, this was one of the best NXT matches of the year.
Immediately after, Femi was confronted by Ricky Saints, who promised Evans was just a preview of what is to come. Could this be the main event of the upcoming No Mercy PLE next month?
Either way, what a main event this was, huh?
