Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has cleared the air about defender Wesley Fofana’s future at the club and stated that the player is happy at Stamford Bridge.
Fofana recently raised eyebrows and created headlines by deleting all mentions of Chelsea on his Instagram page, and many perceived it as a sign that he is unhappy and wants to leave the club.
However, Maresca has come out and confirmed otherwise in a press conference on Thursday. As quoted by Fabrizio Romano, the Italian manager admitted that he is not concerned by the player’s social media activity and added that he does not know why the French defender did what he did.
Most importantly, Maresca sounded very confident that Fofana is happy at Stamford Bridge, so it doesn’t look like Chelsea fans need to worry about the 24-year-old leaving this summer.
While Fofana has been recovering from an injury that has kept him out for a considerable period of time, Maresca has been vocal in his demand for a new defender in the wake of the injury to Levi Colwill.
Those demands could not have gone down well with the Frenchman, as he looks to take Colwill’s place in the side.

What Maresca said about Fofana and his social media activity
Maresca said, “I spoke with Wes Fofana everyday. He is very, very happy. He is joining all the sessions with us. He’s very happy. From tomorrow, he is with us and can also get some minutes. We are happy, and he is happy. Instagram, as you know, I don’t have any idea.”
Now that Maresca has cleared the air about Fofana’s future at the club, Chelsea fans will be hoping for a quick return from injury for the defender.
In the absence of Colwill, one would hope that Fofana can step up to the plate and fill the void left by the Englishman’s absence. But only time will tell if the defender can fulfil his immense potential at Stamford Bridge.
