Arkansas announces new field rush policy for 2025

With compliance to the Southeastern Conference’s rule as the primary reason, Arkansas Athletics has implemented a new field rush policy for the 2025 season. In order to allow the visiting team, staff, and officiating crew proper time to exit the field following a “momentous win” for the Hogs, there will be a three minute countdown on the screen at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium to put a brief halt the field rush. The Razorbacks have rushed the field twice under Sam Pittman: 2021 when they defeated Texas which resulted in a $100,000 fine and last season when they upset No. 4 Tennessee, costing them $250,000 that time around.

Once that hits zero, fans can step on the field to celebrate.

“The safety of our student-athletes and the student-athletes from the visiting institution is extremely important to all of us,” Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Hunter Yurachek said. “By implementing this new policy we are allowing the visiting team to clear the field so our fans can safely join our team on the field to celebrate the big win. We look forward to our fans and students complying with this policy the first time we get to implement it so we can all enjoy a huge win.”

The Razorbacks have rushed the field twice under Sam Pittman: 2021 when they defeated Texas which resulted in a $100,000 fine and last season when they upset No. 4 Tennessee, costing them $250,000 that time around.

The SEC’s latest field rushing policy now includes a $500,000 fine for every incident in all sports. For non-conference incidents the fine money will go to the league office, while the visiting school will receive the payment in a conference matchups.

The Razorbacks will kick off the season against Alabama A&M on Aug. 30 at Reynolds Razorback Stadium. Kickoff is set for 3:15 p.m. CT and the game will air on the SEC Network.
