Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese has missed the last seven games due to a back injury. She has missed 10 total games this season, and Chicago has gone just 1-9 in those contests. The Sky have not been much better with her in the lineup, as they are just 8-25 overall on the WNBA season.

There have been some external rumblings of Reese potentially being shut down for the season, although head coach Tyler Marsh recently made it seem as if that was not being considered.

“I will leave that to the medical staff,” Marsh said las week (via Chicago State of Mind Sports). “For us and for Angel, if she is healthy she wants to play — and we want her to be out there to be able to play. We just don’t want to put her in harm’s way to further any existing injury. For us it’s just making sure she is as healthy as possible. That’s always been the most important thing. With the games remaining, if she is ready to go, she will be out there.”

Angel Reese Returns to Practice

As the conversation around Reese has grown, and whether it makes sense for Chicago to bring her back amid what is a lost season, a new update emerged on Sunday. For the first time since being sidelined, Reese has returned to basketball activities.

The Sky announced she is day-to-day, which leaves open the possibility of a return on Tuesday against the Seattle Storm.

"Angel Reese has resumed basketball activities and appears to be ramping up," Chicago State of Mind Sports posted on X. "Per Sky PR: Reese is still listed as day-to-day."

This is big news for a Sky team that needs a boost. While they will not be heading to the playoffs, Chicago needs something positive, and the return of Reese could be just that. While a return date is unclear, her resuming basketball activities certainly indicates she will be back soon.

Here is Chicago's remaining 2025 schedule:
