Jaylen Castleberry looked and sounded measured and wise in his responses to reporters following Monday’s preseason camp.

The 6-foot, 195-pound redshirt senior cornerback has had a lot to think about and plenty to share about his journey to Temple that has been anything but linear.

Castleberry was a first-team all-district player at Lakewood, Ohio’s St. Edward High School, but he played first at Division II Tiffin University, worked through academic ineligibility and walked on at FCS Youngstown State before becoming a Missouri Valley Football Conference honorable mention player with the Penguins.

Now Castleberry has a chance to be a significant contributor in defensive coordinator Brian L. Smith’s scheme with the Owls. During Monday’s post-practice interview, the Cleveland native shared what he has learned over the last four seasons, talked about what he has seen from Temple’s receivers, and emphasized the importance of good body language.

You can listen to that interview here.
