Luis Diaz’s future at Liverpool is coming to a key moment, as according to Colombian journalist Pipe Sierra (h/t Mundo Deportivo), the Barcelona target is preparing to speak directly with the Premier League club this week about what comes next.
The winger is expected to deliver a clear message that he wants to stay if Liverpool are ready to offer him a better contract. If not, he will ask for an immediate exit.
This meeting is likely to take place within the week. While Diaz has not publicly named his preferred destination, Sierra confirmed that the Colombian has not reached any agreement with Bayern Munich, despite recent reports.
The heart of the matter
One of the main reasons behind Diaz’s push for a new deal is money. At Liverpool, he is only the 16th-highest-paid player in the squad. Based on current figures, if he joined Barcelona, he would be ranked 22nd in salary. At Bayern Munich, he would sit at 20th.
However, both Barça and Bayern are reportedly offering him a deal that would triple his current wages, making the salary issue hard for Liverpool to ignore.

Saudi club Al-Nassr have also shown interest in Diaz but, as of now, they are not prioritising his signing. Reports from Colombia suggest that the winger wants to stay in Europe, ruling out a move to the Middle East for the time being.
At this stage, Bayern have already made a formal offer, while Barcelona remain interested but cautious due to financial constraints.
The final decision now lies with Liverpool as to whether they choose to meet Diaz’s demands or cash in on the player.
Barcelona’s hopes hinge on Liverpool’s next move. If they refuse to improve his deal and accept his departure, the Catalan giants could step in, but only if the price is right.
