The Ryder Cup comes around every two years. The matchup between America and Europe is set for its 45th meeting.

It's almost time.

The 2025 Ryder Cup from Bethpage Black Course in Farmingdale, NY is just a few weeks away.

The Ryder Cup is the global matchup between professional golfers from America and those from Europe. It'll be Sept. 23-28 and will feature some of golf's biggest stars.

How the Ryder Cup works

The Ryder Cup features 12 players from Europe compete against 12 players from the United States in varying types of competitions to accumulate points for each team, best ball, fourball and match play.

There are 28 points on offer over the three days and the first past 14 points wins. Should the match end in a 14-14 draw, then the previous winner retains the trophy. If the match is tied, then you earn half a point for your team.

Qualification for Team USA

The top six eligible players from the U.S. Ryder Cup Points list following the BMW Championship on Aug. 17, 2025, will make the team. Keegan Bradley will have six captain’s picks to finish his team.

2024: 1 Point per $1,000 earned for all players making the cut at the Players Championship and the Four Major Championships: The Masters, PGA Championship, U.S. Open, and The Open Championship.

2025 Regular PGA TOUR Events: 1 point per $1000 earned for all players making the cut at events from January 1, 2025 through the conclusion of the BMW Championship, ending August 17, 2025.

2025 Major Championships (Masters, PGA Championship, U.S. Open and The Open Championship): 1.5 points per $1,000 earned for all players making the cut.

Captain typically do not play in the Ryder Cup.

Qualification for Team Europe

The European Team to compete in the 2025 Ryder Cup shall comprise of the leading six Members on the Ryder Cup Points List. Team captain Luke Donald, will choose the remaining six members.
