Dodgers Call Up All-Star Pitcher Before Game vs. Brewers

The Los Angeles Dodgers recalled a former All-Star pitcher before their game against the Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday night.

While the Los Angeles Dodgers look for answers behind their current four-game losing streak, they have made some interesting moves as they continue to struggle with injury problems.

Their pitching staff hasn't been able to get any momentum after Cy Young candidate Yoshinobu Yamamoto pitched in his shortest outing of his career on Monday and gave up three earned runs in 0.2 innings against the Milwaukee Brewers.

Manager Dave Roberts is looking for answers, and the Dodgers decided to call up All-Star reliever Alexis Diaz from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Tuesday, according to The Athletic's Fabian Ardaya.

Diaz was acquired by the Dodgers after they agreed to a trade with the Cincinnati Reds on May 29.

In exchange for the All-Star reliever, the Dodgers sent right-handed pitcher Mike Villani to Cincinnati.

Diaz was elected to his first All-Star team in 2023 and was the NL Rookie of the Year runner-up in 2022 after leading NL rookie pitchers in appearances and saves, losing the race to the Atlanta Braves' Michael Harris II.

The former All-Star has lost his momentum in recent years, struggling to pitch against left-handed hitters while also failing to stay healthy.

Before being traded by the Reds in late May, Diaz appeared in six games for them, finishing with a 12.00 ERA, 2.17 WHIP, and giving up eight hits and five walks in 6.0 innings pitched.

Los Angeles will look to give Diaz another chance on the mound as they look to break their losing streak in a game against the Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday night.
