With just two weeks to go before the summer transfer window shuts, Chelsea are pushing to try and sell Nicolas Jackson.

Now, finally, they could be about to see a Premier League side make a move for the Senegal international striker.

The fact that Jackson does not have a future at Chelsea is plain to see after he missed the club’s pre-season games and was not even in the squad for the Premier League opener against Crystal Palace on Sunday.

A number of clubs have previously registered interest in signing Jackson this summer, but none of them have made a concrete move so far.

Aston Villa are long-standing admirers of Jackson, thanks to their manager, Unai Emery. Now, the Villans are said to be on the verge of making a move to sign the striker in the remainder of the ongoing transfer window.

Villa are said to be on the lookout for a new striker and have reportedly earmarked Jackson as one of their ideal targets.

Aston Villa hold talks to sign Nicolas Jackson from Chelsea

Aston Villa manager Emery is believed to be a massive fan of Nicolas Jackson, having previously worked with him during the duo’s time at Villarreal in Spain.

More importantly, the Spanish manager is reportedly keen on reigniting his connection with Jackson at Villa Park.

Journalist Florian Plettenberg has stated that talks have already taken place between the two sides over a possible summer move.

He said, “Aston Villa have added Nicolas Jackson to their shortlist and are closely monitoring his situation. Talks have already taken place. Several clubs are interested.”

“FC Bayern have also gathered information, but a move to Munich is not happening. The 24 y/o versatile striker is still on the verge of leaving Chelsea. Aston Villa now there.”

While it's understandable why Emery would like to reunite with Jackson at Villa Park, Villa might have to shell out a bomb to land their man, as Chelsea still hold all the aces in this deal.

If Villa don’t pay Chelsea’s asking price for Jackson, the Blues plan to reintegrate the striker back into the first team fold and let him compete for a spot with his peers at Chelsea.
