Tyler Marsh knows he needs all the help he can get as the Chicago Sky continue to play without Kamilla Cardoso. The standout center missed her fourth straight game Tuesday after participating in the AmeriCup with Brazil.
In her absence, second-year forward Angel Reese has stepped up in a big way. The 6-foot-3 LSU product entered Tuesday’s game against the Washington Mystics on a tear, having posted five straight double-doubles.
It took just one half and 17 minutes for Reese to notch her sixth consecutive double-double. She continued her strong play in the second half, highlighted by a big basket in the paint that fired up Sky fans and the team’s social media.

During this recent stretch, Reese has played more than 32 minutes in each game. Her biggest outing came on June 29 in Los Angeles, where she recorded 24 points and 16 rebounds.
When Cardoso does return, she’ll be looking to build off her best game of the season. In Chicago’s June 24 matchup against the Sparks, Cardoso scored 27 points and grabbed seven rebounds.
Heading into Tuesday’s game, Reese ranked second in scoring for the Sky, averaging 12.6 points and a team-high 12.8 rebounds per game. Cardoso was second in scoring at 12.7 points per game, while Ariel Atkins led the team with 14.4.
After Tuesday’s road game, the Sky will finally return home for their first game at Wintrust Arena since June 24. They’ll host the Dallas Wings in a matchup that features rookie Paige Bueckers. Chicago remains at home through July 22 before heading to Minnesota following the WNBA All-Star break.
