CFB Analyst Names SEC Program Acting 'Borderline Delusional'

A delusional college football program?

CFB Analyst Names SEC Program Acting 'Borderline Delusional' originally appeared on Athlon Sports.

If one considers the class of 2026 recruitment rankings, the Auburn Tigers are in a world of trouble. They are ranked 86th nationally and dead last in the SEC, which doesn't bode well for head coach Hugh Freeze.

He's been on the hot seat for a month now, and things are only getting worse with every new media segment.

In Monday's episode of the Crain & Company show, college football analyst Jake Crain also took shots at Auburn management, breaking down their comments about fair play.

Crain questions Coach Freeze's explanation of their struggles. The analyst points out, "How do we not know why the offers are so low?"

He says that the argument Tigers have put up is sound, but then how are they 'figuring out' about the offers? According to the analyst, it doesn't follow logic and ends up looking like an excuse from the head coach.

Last week, Auburn management hinted that their competitors were not playing by the rules. Crain says that, as per what the Tigers' management is saying, recruits will run back to Auburn once they see the actual other offers.

Since they think the other teams are offering something they cannot give.

The analyst doesn't see it happening, though. He said, "I think it is borderline delusional that Auburn is right and everybody else is wrong."

The difference in the results is staggering. Where Auburn has only received one commitment from top talent in-state, their rivals, the Alabama Crimson Tide, have snagged five top players.

Coach Freeze believes that this won't matter once they get to the field. They will shake it out with their performance. It isn't like Auburn has always gathered the best talent every year, but they've always found ways to beat their rivals.

It looks like the Auburn head coach has a three-fold goal this year- put up a winning season, have a shot at the playoffs, but most importantly, defeat Alabama. If these three things aren't fulfilled, the future looks gloomy for the Tigers' coaching staff.
