Ohio StateWR Jeremiah Smith enters his sophomore season as likely the best player in all of college football. That makes the turnout at Sunday’s event at Dick’s House of Sport in Columbus, Ohio not much of a surprise with fans packing out the place to meet the Buckeyes’ superstar receiver.

Smith was in the store this afternoon for a meet-and-greet as part of their grand opening during this weekend. In turn, a massive crowd of fans lined up all around the store for photos, videos, and the chance to meet him.

Smith is less than two weeks from beginning his sophomore season in college. That’s after, following his arrival as the No. 1 recruit in the country, living up and only adding to his ranking by posting 76 receptions for 1,315 yards and 15 touchdowns, being the leading pass-catcher for Ohio State and one of the leading receivers both in the Big Ten and across the NCAA. With that, Smith also won a national title as a freshman as well, having 19 catches for 381 yards and five touchdowns en route to the Buckeyes winning the College Football Playoff.

That stardom on the field has only created more of one off of it for Smith. He has the third-highest valuation in the country per the NIL 100 at $4.2 million, behind only TexasQB Arch Manning ($6.8 million) and just after MiamiQB Carson Beck ($4.3 million). That includes deals for Smith with brands like Adidas and Nintendo, among others.

Smith has already made himself well-known around college football. That should only continue, and evidenced in ways like this, with two more seasons still for him to play collegiately.

Klatt on Smith: ‘He has a chance to be a top five receiver in the history of football’

FOX Sports’ Joel Klatt has expectations for Jeremiah Smith that are nothing short of astronomical. During a recent appearance on ‘The Herd with Colin Cowherd’, Klatt raved about Smith and his potential.”

“The quarterback is not going to be asked to be Superman for Ohio State,” Klatt said. “They should be able to run it well, their defense should be solid, and they’ve got, I think, the best wide receiver that I’ve seen in college football since I’ve been covering college football in Jeremiah Smith. He might be the best player I’ve seen since I started covering college football.”

“There’s only two players that I felt like, as their true freshman year, they should be on an NFL field: Adrian Peterson and Jeremiah Smith…Smith is ridiculous. I think Jeremiah Smith — I mean, this is probably too much hype. Jeremiah Smith, if he just keeps working hard and developing, I think he has a chance to be a top five receiver in the history of football.”
