Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick is currently preparing himself for a painful round of talks with a member of his goalkeeper ranks.
That’s according to The Athletic, who unsurprisingly point towards Marc-André ter Stegen as the player in question.
Shot-stopper Ter Stegen is of course in the midst of an altogether difficult summer to date.
After being displaced from his role as Barcelona no.1 following a serious knee injury this past season, the Blaugrana have since added further to their options between the posts, courtesy of the signing of Joan García.
With as much in mind, Ter Stegen has gone from first to third choice at the Camp Nou, with Deco and co. ready to push the German towards the exit door.
As of yet, Ter Stegen himself has shown little intention of departing, keen to stay put and fulfill his contract.
And owing to this stance, manager Hansi Flick looks set to be forced to intervene over the days ahead.
As per a report from The Athletic:
‘Next week, as the team returns to action for pre-season, there is the expectation that Flick will have a private chat with Marc-Andre ter Stegen to inform the goalkeeper he is not expected to be a starter next season – with the plan being to offload Barca’s 33-year-old current captain.’
