One of the highlights of this first half at Stamford Bridge came from some Chelsea defending.
Young Josh Acheampong, making just his third Premier League start, used his speed to get back and put in a superb sliding tackle of Daniel Munoz.
The youngster tried to turn defence into attack, collecting the loose ball and driving forward, only to be taken out by Jean Philippe Mateta, who was booked.
It was some really mature play from the youngster, who never looks out of place when stepping up to first team action. Even playing in the centre of defence, he looks perfectly happy both on the ball and when trying to win it.
As we mentioned earlier this afternoon, Enzo Maresca has shown great faith in the 19 year old, and is getting paid back already.
Acheampong soaks up pundit praises
On BBC 5 Live, Steve Sidwell was very complimentary about the youngster and how he has played in the first half:
“This is the chance Josh Acheampong needs. He’s getting a real chance to stake a claim in this team. I have been impressed with his leadership qualities. A really bright start for him.”
According to Squawka, Acheampong won all 5 of his duels int he first half – nobody won more.
Potential loan still looks on the cards for youngster

There has been some debate in recent days about whether Acheampong should be loaned out – Bournemouth are interested.
It’s a very tough call. Of course he did get a start today, but when Benoit Badiashile, Wesley Fofana and Tosin Adarabioyo are all fit to play, will he get enough minutes? We’re really torn over what to do, although we’d say that Acheampong’s ability to play at right back should mean he stays. It only takes an injury to Reece James or Malo Gusto to make him second choice at right back, as well as an option in the middle.
