Kamilla Cardoso has been out of the rotation since June.
Chicago Sky Announce Kamilla Cardoso News Before Mystics Game originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
Kamilla Cardoso has quickly become one of the Chicago Sky’s brightest young stars in just her second WNBA season. Drafted third overall in 2024, the 6-foot-7 center has made her presence felt on both ends of the floor with her size, rebounding, and rim protection. Cardoso wrapped up her rookie year earning All-Rookie honors, and this season she has taken another leap, averaging 12.7 points, 6.6 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 14 games so far.
Her strong start to the 2025 campaign was briefly put on hold as she joined Brazil’s national team for the FIBA Women’s AmeriCup. Cardoso played a key role in Brazil’s impressive run, helping her country capture the silver medal while earning All-Tournament honors after dominating in the paint throughout the competition.
Despite helping her national team reach the final, Cardoso was not back in time to suit up for the Sky as they look to bounce back from Sunday’s tough loss to the Minnesota Lynx.
Minutes before tip-off on Tuesday, Chicago made it official, announcing that Cardoso remains overseas and will not be available for the matchup against the Washington Mystics.

While the team has yet to confirm exactly when the standout center will return to the lineup, there is optimism she could be ready as early as Wednesday, when the Sky face Paige Bueckers and the Dallas Wings at home. Chicago will certainly welcome her back — her size and defensive presence have been crucial for a roster still building consistency under head coach Tyler Marsh.
For now, fans can take comfort knowing Cardoso is coming off another confidence-boosting stretch overseas and should slot right back into the rotation when she returns.
