WNBA Sends Angel Reese Message on Tuesday

Angel Reese shines in second season as WNBA takes notice

Angel Reese is making waves in her second WNBA season. After a standout college career that began at Maryland and concluded at LSU with a national championship under coach Kim Mulkey in 2023, Reese wrapped up her time in Baton Rouge in 2024 and transitioned smoothly into the pros.

Now with the Chicago Sky, Reese is averaging 12.6 points and 12.8 rebounds per game, and she’s recorded five straight double-doubles. In a recent loss to Minnesota, she played 37 minutes, scoring 16 points and grabbing 17 boards.

On Tuesday morning, the WNBA spotlighted Reese ahead of Chicago’s game against the Washington Mystics:

"Angel Reese returns to the DMV as the Chicago Sky take on the Washington Mystics at 11:30am/ET on League Pass!"

Chicago enters the matchup with a 5-12 record and sits fifth in the Eastern Conference. The team is looking to snap a losing streak after dropping a road game to the Lynx.

Washington, at 8-10, is fourth in the East and also trying to bounce back following back-to-back losses, including a 92-75 defeat to Minnesota.

Reese ranks third in the team in scoring behind Kamilla Cardoso, who averages 12.7 points per game, and Ariel Atkins, who averages 14.4 points per game. Chicago has been without Kamilla Cardoso since June 24 while she plays for Brazil in the AmeriCup. Before departing, Cardoso posted a dominant 27-point, 7-rebound outing against the Sparks.

The Sky are searching for consistency on offense. They rank 12th out of 13 teams in scoring, with 78.6 points per game, and are 10th in made threes, with 7.2 per game.

Reese's presence, both statistically and as a personality, continues to draw attention. The WNBA’s promotion of Tuesday’s game shows the league knows it, too.
