Jayson Tatum's unfortunate Achilles injury and a myriad of calculated trades have left the Boston Celtics' Jaylen Brown and Derrick White alone for the 2025-26 campaign.
In an effort to provide the talented duo with a consistent offensive option, the Celtics reportedly signed star G-League forward Ron Harper Jr. on Saturday.
"The Boston Celtics and Ron Harper Jr. have agreed to a deal, league sources told HoopsHype," HoopsHype's Michael Scotto shared via Twitter/X on Saturday afternoon.
"He’s spent the past three NBA seasons with the (Toronto) Raptors and (Detroit) Pistons."
"The versatile wing surged last season with the Motor City Cruise shooting 39% from 3-point range."
The son of former 15-year NBA veteran, Ron Harper, and brother of the San Antonio Spurs' No. 2 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, Dylan Harper, Harper Jr. is a solid combo-forward talent that can wear a number of hats on the offensive end.

In 27 appearances while splitting his time between the G-League's Motor City Cruise and Maine Celtics, the 25-year-old contributed 20.1 points, 4.9 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.1 steals while knocking down 39.0% of his 8.9 attempts from three-point range.
Above all, Harper Jr. has developed into one of the most reliable outside shot-makers in the G-League on high volume, and it's plausible to believe that he can earn a spot in Boston's rotation in 2025-26.
