Alex Bregman trade rumors: Tigers and Mariners emerges as trade candidates for Red Sox 3B

If the Boston Red Sox fail to finalize an extension, Alex Bregman may be traded at the deadline, with the Tigers and the Mariners emerging as top spots.

Alex Bregman

Alex Bregman signed a three-year, $120 million contract with the Boston Red Sox ahead of the 2025 season. But he may be on his way out just as fast before the July 31 trade deadline.

With Rafael Devers traded to the San Francisco Giants, the Red Sox want more than three years out of Bregman. If no extension is finalized, they might be thinking of trading him, according to the notes of Jim Bowden. If that happens, the MLB insider believes that the Detroit Tigers and the Seattle Mariners could be the places where the third baseman can find himself by August.

“This was another shocking name to me, but some execs believe the Red Sox could move on from Bregman at the trade deadline if they can’t extend him by then … if the two sides can’t work out a deal, don’t be surprised if Boston trades him to either the Tigers or Mariners at the trade deadline,” Bowden said.

The Tigers were one of the teams with whom Alex Bregman's camp entered negotiations during free agency. However, the Red Sox came in with the right contract to take his services. But now it seems they either want more years from him or trade him off now.
