Champions Bayern Munich have reportedly set their sights on former Bundesliga top scorer Christopher Nkunku to bolster their forward line.
Sky TV and the Bild paper said on Friday that Bayern have contacted Nkunku's club Chelsea, and Bild said that Bayern board member for sport is talking to the forward's management.
Bayern have seen the exits of forwards Thomas Müller, Mathys Tel and Leroy Sané, Kingsley Coman is close to joining Saudi club Al-Nassr, and Jamal Musiala has a long term injury.
In addition, Bayern have so far failed to land their preferred target, Germany forward Nick Woltemade from German Cup winners VfB Stuttgart, who they face in the domestic Super Cup on Saturday.
Bayern have signed winger Luis Diaz from Liverpool, and sporting director Christoph Freund said on Friday that more players for the forward line could follow.
France international Nkunku, 27, played in the Bundesliga 2019-2023 at RB Leipzig, winning two German Cups and being joint league top scorer in his final season there. He then joined Chelsea and won the Conference League and Club World Cup earlier in the year.
Sky said that Chelsea want to sell him while Bayern would prefer a loan. Nkunku is versatile in attack and could play behind striker Harry Kane, on the wings, or as a striker.
