According to a report from Foot Mercato, Middlesbrough are in advanced negotiations to sign Cheikj Sabaly (26) from Metz. The Senegalese international forward is eager to make the move to Teeside before the transfer window closes.
The EFL Championship outfit have identified the 26-year-old as an option to bolster their attacking options after the start of the new season. Sabaly’s current contract with the Lorraine club is set to expire at the end of the season, forcing Les Grenats to consider a sale with no sign of a new deal on the horizon. Middlesbrough have begun to take advantage of this situation.
Sabaly played a pivotal role in helping Metz secure promotion back to Ligue 1 last season. The Senegalese attacker scored 15 goals and registered 4 assists in 37 appearances for the newly promoted club last term. He also scored against England in an international friendly.
