New Chelsea signing shares his first impression of Enzo Maresca

A new Chelsea signing has shared his verdict on Enzo Maresca as a coach and his desire to play in the Champions League.

Chelsea’s squad for next season is getting stronger with each passing day, as Enzo Maresca has made a host of new signings ahead of next season.

One of their latest signings is Joao Pedro, who sealed the move from Brighton and Hove Albion last week.

His arrival adds a whole new dimension to Chelsea’s attack as he can play anywhere across the frontline.

The Brazilian made an impressive debut for Chelsea in the quarter-final of the Club World Cup against Pameiras, and Chelsea fans are excited about what he can bring to the table next season.

Following his arrival, Maresca has plenty of different options in the No.9 position. Nicolas Jackson now has competition from summer signings Pedro and Liam Delap in attack.

Soon after he arrived at Chelsea, Pedro was asked about his new surroundings and manager Maresca.

What Joao Pedro said about Maresca and Chelsea

When asked what sort of impression Maresca has made, Pedro told Sky Sports, “I think he’s a very good coach. He’s very intelligent. He tries to make the game easy for us.”

The forward also believes that he is ready to make the step up to the UEFA Champions League, having previously played in the UEFA Europa League.

“When I left Watford, I was in the Championship; I went to Brighton. They played the Europa League, and if you watch the group stages, I was the top scorer. I think I’m ready for the new challenge; that’s why I joined Chelsea.”
