The Baltimore Orioles' late-season improvements won't matter for when their campaign ends in 2025.

They won't be going to the playoffs, because they struggled for far too long. But the good vibes? Jackson Holliday is trying to make sure they carry over into a much better 2026.

On Wednesday night, Holliday delivered a walk-off double.

The rope into the right field corner drove home Dylan Carlson from first after he singled with two outs in the bottom of the ninth against the Tampa Bay Rays.

In the process, Holliday joined a special list in franchise history.

He's the third-youngest player in Orioles history to have a walk-off hit in the last 50 seasons, according to MLB.com's Jake Rill, behind just two guys who grew into superstars.

The list:

  • Manny Machado: 20 years, 69 days
  • Eddie Murray: 21 years, 137 days
  • Jackson Holliday: 21 years, 252 days

That's obviously elite company. Murray is a Hall of Famer, and Machado is one of the top players of this generation.

Holliday has been highly touted since before he was even drafted. Part of that comes from being the son of former All-Star outfielder Matt Holliday, but it's also due to Jackson's immense talent.

This season, Holliday is now batting .250 with 14 homers, 11 steals and 45 RBI.

The Orioles will surely be hoping this was far from the last walk-off hit of his career. If he can put together a baseball life like Machado or Murray, that'd be quite the special outcome for Holliday.
