'SEC Bias': 10 Teams From Historic CFB Conference Make Preseason AP Poll

The Southeastern Conference (SEC) has been far and away the best conference in college football according to most fans for the better part of the last decade-plus, culminating in a run of nine national championships since 2010. Michigan and Ohio State's back-to-back titles and conference expansion have led to a Big Ten resurgence with many people declaring it the best league in 2024-25. On Monday, the SEC once again took back its foothold as the premiere conference in all the land, for the time being anyway, as it placed 10 teams in the 2025 Associated Press preseason poll.

On Monday, the SEC once again took back its foothold as the premiere conference in all the land, for the time being anyway, as it placed 10 teams in the 2025 Associated Press preseason poll.

The situation did not sit well with many college football fans who took to X to voice their displeasure and cry SEC bias.

"The @SEC leads the way with 10 teams in the Preseason AP Top 25," FOX College Football wrote on X.

"Who are you most excited to watch this season?" The situation took an abrupt turn as fans changed the subject over and over again.

"I'm not surprised, we run NCAA!" a Florida Gators fan said with an SEC graphic.

"Wow, imagine my surprise. The SEC is overrated again. I'm shook," another added.

"Preseason rankings are meaningless," another fan said.

"TCU isn't ranked but would beat at least 8 of those 10 SEC, and at least 4 of those 6 Big Ten," another fan said.

"Always the SEC preseason bump," another added.

"Overrated and will be proven the first three weeks of the season," another added.

The conference includes several recent champions including Georgia and Alabama, who were ranked 5th and 8th, respectively.

Texas is the highest ranked SEC team at number one in the country, a ranking that will be put to the test against 2024-25 national champions and number three ranked Ohio State on Aug. 30 in Columbus, Ohio.

Big Ten power Penn State came in at number two, followed by the Buckeyes, Clemson, and Georgia, rounding out the top five.

Recent Big Ten entrant Oregon is ranked 7th after a Big Ten title and Rose Bowl appearance last season and must replace Heisman finalist Dillon Gabriel, who is now with the Cleveland Browns.

Illinois and Michigan round out the top 15 among Big Ten teams with the Fighting Illini checking in at number 12 and Michigan at number 14.
