The Detroit Pistons are reportedly not interested in pursuing a rising guard from the Brooklyn Nets despite trade rumors.
Pistons Not Interested in Pursuing Trade for Nets' Rising Guard: Report originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The Detroit Pistons are coming off an incredible season that saw them go from being the worst team in the NBA the prior two seasons to making the playoffs as the sixth seed in the Eastern Conference.
Of course, the Pistons have done a great job of mixing young talent with veterans on their roster which is led by Cade Cunningham, Tobias Harris, Ausar Thompson and Jalen Duren.
Despite this, Detroit did lose some key players this offseason as Tim Hardaway Jr. and Dennis Schroder left in free agency while Malik Beasley remains unsigned as he is being investigated for gambling allegations.
Detroit did land Duncan Robinson and Caris LeVert in free agency and they signed Javonte Green on Monday to upgrade their depth heading into next season.
While the Pistons did make some solid moves this summer, more moves could be on the way before the start of next season as they have been linked to multiple players.
One player they have continued to be linked to is Cam Thomas of the Brooklyn Nets who is currently a restricted free agent.
Pistons not interested in Nets' Cam Thomas
Despite the trade rumors surrounding Thomas and the Pistons, ClutchPoints’ Brett Siegel reported on Monday that Detroit has no interest in the rising guard.
This is a massive report by Siegel but one that is not a complete surprise as Detroit would likely have to move on from multiple players to acquire Thomas via a sign-and-trade and they would then have to give the young guard a massive payday, which is something the Nets have been unwilling to do.
While that may be the case, a backcourt of Cunnigham and Thomas would be an electric one, especially on the offensive end, though Detroit would likely have to send Jaden Ivey in a potential sign-and-trade.
Because of this, it makes sense why the Pistons are not showing interest in Thomas this summer as they are looking to keep their core together and chase a top seed in the East next season.
