Get ready for a high-stakes showdown on Thursday as the No. 7 nationally-ranked Buford Wolves host the No. 13 Milton Eagles in a clash of Georgia powers. This highly-anticipated opener marks the grand opening of Buford’s new $62 million Phillip Beard Stadium and will be broadcast nationally on ESPN2, adding extra sizzle to an already fiery rivalry.
Buford, boasting a roster stacked with talent like quarterback Dayton Raiola, offensive lineman Graham Houston and defensive standouts Tyriq Green, Nascar McCoy, Bryce Perry-Wright and Dre Quinn, will be out for revenge after a tough 13-10 loss at Milton last year – their only regular season defeat. The Wolves will rely on their powerful offense and suffocating defense to protect their home turf and start the season strong.
Milton, led by transfer quarterback Derrick Baker, tight end Grant Haviland, linebacker Billy Weivoda, safety Tristan Lester and receiver Jordan Carrasquillo, aims to repeat last year’s victory and prove they are still a force to be reckoned with. Expect a hard-fought battle as the Eagles try to silence the home crowd and make a statement on national television.
Buford Wolves Players to Watch
The Buford Wolves have 11 juniors and seniors on the roster that are verbally committed to Power Four programs, with seven of those players pledged to SEC teams.
S Tyriq Green: The future Georgia Bulldog is the No. 203 overall prospect in the 2026 class according to the Rivals Industry Rankings, a weighted average that utilizes all three of the major recruiting networks. Green chose Kirby Smart‘s program over Auburn and Miami.
IOL Graham Houston: The No. 264 overall prospect in the country, according to the Rivals Industry Rankings, is one of the top offensive linemen in the Peach State. Houston committed to Georgia in May over Florida, Florida State and Ole Miss.

Quinn is a newcomer to this Buford roster, as he transferred in over the offseason from Greater Atlanta Christian School. Last season he racked up 42 tackles and 9.5 tackles for loss for the Spartans.
QB Dayton Raiola: The three-star prospect is continuing the Raiola legacy alive at Buford as his brother, Dylan, was the program’s starting quarterback before heading off to star at Nebraska. The younger Raiola is also slated to be a Husker, as he committed to Matt Rhule‘s program last September.
