Marlins 3 – Guardians 4: You Know Bro

A multi-HR night for José Ramírez secures Cleveland’s victory over Miami.

Logan T. Allen and the Cleveland Guardians started this one out with a bang.

After a fielding error allowed the first Marlin to reach, LTA picked him off at first then proceeded to strikeout the next two to retire the side.

Then, much to the dismay of every other team in baseball, José showed us that he’s back with a solo homer to right center. Kyle Manzardo immediately followed up with a solo homer of his own!

In the bottom of the second Gabriel Arias smacked a one-out double to left field. Brayan Rocchio drove him home with a liner to right.

Between the bottom of the third and fourth, the only baserunner for Cleveland would be José who doubled in the third. Unfortunately the Marlins started picking away at Logan’s pitch count, giving them an opportunity.

In the top of the fourth, Allen walked two with two-outs before retiring the side. In the top of the fifth he led things off by hitting the first batter. It was looking promising when the next two were retired. However a walk, single, and rare throwing error by Kwan allowed two to score. A double to left tied things up on LTA. Logan finished the night having gone 5.0IP, 4H, 3R/2ER, 4BB, and 5Ks.

Nic Enright came on in the top of the sixth in relief. Enright gave up two walks and retired two. With runners on first and second, Enright gave up a single to left. The runner on second tried to beat out Steven Kwan for the go-ahead run, and failed. Kwan had a perfect outfield assist, throwing in to catcher Bo Naylor who applied the tag in time. Hunter Gaddis pitched the seventh, going 1-2-3. Erik Sabrowski started the top of the eighth, getting the first two outs and walking a batter. Manager Stephen Vogt turned to Cade Smith for the final out of the inning. Cade struck out the batter for the third out.

In the bottom of the eighth, who else but José Ramírez drove another home run to put the Guards on top again. This would mark José’s 27th multi-home run game, giving him the franchise lead for that stat.

Cade returned to the mound in the ninth in hopes to close out the game. With a one run lead and some great defense behind him, Cade Smith earned the win and the Guards improve to 62-56.
