Aaron Judge may return to the outfield this weekend during the New York Yankees' three-game series with the St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Field.
Aaron Judge injury update: Yankees predicted to see .336 hitter return to right field soon originally appeared on The Sporting News
The New York Yankees have had Aaron Judge’s bat in the lineup since coming off the IL on August 5, but they’ve been missing his glove and all-league throwing arm in the short porch in right field.
That will soon change, according to NJ.com’s Randy Miller.
Miller reports Judge’s return to the field could come this weekend for a three-game series with the St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Field.
“Since Judge’s return from the injured list last Tuesday in Texas, he’s batting .211 with no homers and two RBI in six games,” Miller wrote.
“Is Judge’s flexor strain in his throwing elbow still a problem?
“It’s not affecting his hitting, the Yankees have been saying.
“Judge’s throwing program is progressing well, too … so well that he might be back in right field by this weekend in St. Louis after only DHing since coming off the IL.”
Yankees hitting coach James Rowson didn’t sound overly convinced Judge would continue his struggles at the plate since his return.
“He’s up there getting his timing back, getting his tempo back, and each day, he’s just getting a little bit closer to getting to that spot,” Rowson told The New York Post before Judge went 1-for-4 with an RBI single and two strikeouts during the Yankees’ 6-2 win over the Twins on Monday.
“You do have those times where maybe it’s not going the way you want it and you’re not winning consistently so you’re trying to do a little too much. But I don’t really anticipate where he’s at lasting too long. I think he’s gonna start having the good at-bats that we expect and start getting back to where he normally goes.”
We’ll see how long it takes Judge to get back up to speed in the outfield, probably starting this weekend.
