The Auburn Tigers' main rival is the Alabama Crimson Tide, with whom they play in an annual game known as "The Iron Bowl."
However, another Auburn rivalry received attention on Monday. The Athletic's Scott Dochterman ranked Auburn's rivalry with the Georgia Bulldogs as the 17th-best in college football.
The contest is known as "The Deep South's Oldest Rivalry," and first started in 1892. Georgia leads the all-time series 65-56-8 and has won eight straight games against Auburn.
The last time the Tigers beat the Bulldogs was in 2017, when Gus Malzahn was still the head coach on The Plains.
Last season's meeting ended with another Georgia win. Auburn made things interesting in the third quarter with a Jarquez Hunter touchdown to make it 14-10, Bulldogs.
However, Georgia outscored Auburn 17-3 in the final two quarters to secure a 31-13 win.
Auburn had some roster turnover this offseason thanks to the transfer portal. The top additions included Oklahoma Sooners quarterback Jackson Arnold, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets receiver Eric Singleton Jr. and Virginia Tech Hokies offensive tackle Xavier Chaplin.
Arnold is expected to win the quarterback job, but he has a history of turnover problems. The quarterback had three interceptions and fumbled the ball nine times last season for Oklahoma.
However, On3's JD PicKell believes Arnold can unlock the Auburn offense if the turnovers can be fixed. Outside of the transfer portal adds, the Tigers return players like receiver Cam Coleman, offensive lineman Connor Lew and receiver Malcolm Simmons on offense.
Recruiting has not gone well for Auburn lately, with Shadarius Toodle, Devin Carter and Denairius Gray flipping their commitments to different programs.
There is a silver lining, however, as four-star receiver and Auburn target Jase Matthews is close to reaching a decision.
Year three of the Hugh Freeze era opens with the Baylor Bears on August 29.
