Passing a legend along the way.
Tiffany Hayes moves up exclusive list in Golden State win on Monday originally appeared on The Sporting News
The WNBA has been quite the journey for 35-year-old Tiffany Hayes. After a strong collegiate career under Geno Auriemma and the UConn Huskies, she has made a great name for herself in the WNBA.
A long-time member of the Atlanta Dream, Hayes has been with three teams in three seasons now, as a member of the Golden State Valkyries. But, with 12.1 points per game, and her team above .500, she appears to be settled in the right place.
On Monday, she moved to 31st on the WNBA All-Time scoring list, passing legend Sheryl Swoopes. Hayes is now just 123 points away from 5,000 in her career.

She was one of four players for Golden State in double digits, as Cecilia Zandalasini also scored 17, while Janelle Salaun added 16 and Ilian Rupert poured in 10 points.
Golden State took care of the Connecticut Sun 74-57. The loss for the Sun dropped them to a league-worst 5-26 on the season.

Hayes is now four points behind Mya Moore, for 30th all-time. Taj McWilliams-Franklin is 29th on the list, and has 5,013 points, while Tangela Smith is also within reach over the next couple of games, with 5,048.
Golden State has won back-to-back games. They will head out on the road for two more games this week, as they are at the Washington Mystics on Wednesday and then the Chicago Sky on Friday.
