Garrett Nussmeier's brother sends LSU clear message after recruiting visit.
Nation’s No. 3 QB, Garrett Nussmeier’s Brother Sends LSU Clear Message originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The LSU Tigers and quarterback Garrett Nussmeier are facing some high expectations in 2025, as ESPN BET gives them the ninth-best odds (+1800) to win the national championship.
However, that doesn't mean that head coach Brian Kelly has put any less effort into recruiting, and one name they've been making a push for in the Class of 2027 is quarterback and Garrett's younger brother, Colton Nussmeier.
Rivals' Sam Spiegelman reported that last month, Colton Nussmeier visited several SEC teams, including the Alabama Crimson Tide, the Florida Gators, the Georgia Bulldogs and LSU, whom he had some praise for.
“I’ve been there a lot since Garrett and I’ve built really good relationships there,” Nussmeier said. “I know a lot of the staff that has been there. I know the place and I know a lot about LSU — and I definitely like it. They’re one of my top schools.”
Landing a talent like Colton Nussmeier would be a massive win for any team, as On3 ranks him as a four-star recruit, the No. 3 quarterback, the No. 11 player in Texas and the No. 64 player in the nation.
Last season, he put up some solid numbers for Marcus High School, appearing in 10 games, completing 137-of-232 passes for 1,894 yards, 16 touchdowns, three interceptions and a 102.9 quarterback rating.
Those programs he visited certainly aren't the only ones in the running as well, as Colton Nussmeier also has offers from North Carolina, Ole Miss, Texas Tech, Wisconsin, SMU and TCU.
As of now, things aren't looking too good for LSU to come out on top in this battle, with On3 giving Florida the best chances (53%) to land Nussmeier, while the Tigers are tied for the fourth-best (3%).
