Designated hitter Kyle Schwarber is in his eleventh major-league season and fourth as a member of the Philadelphia Phillies, powering the middle of the lineup with his trademark home-run approach.

Originally drafted fourth overall in the 2014 MLB Draft out of Indiana University by the Chicago Cubs, he made his big-league debut with Chicago in 2015. The 32-year-old slugger spent six seasons in Chicago, where his offensive contributions helped the Cubs capture their first World Series title since 1908 in 2016.

After brief stints with the Washington Nationals and Boston Red Sox, Schwarber signed a four-year, $79 million contract with Philadelphia prior to the 2022 season.

In 2025, he’s remained an elite power threat with 27 home runs in 90 games; health permitting, he’s on pace for a fourth consecutive 30-homer season.

With the All-Star break approaching, Schwarber was asked about a potential return to the Home Run Derby after competing in 2018 and 2022.

“I’m not gonna do the Home Run Derby,” he replied. “We’ll see what happens next year.”

Schwarber earned his third All-Star selection in 2025—his second with Philadelphia—when rosters were announced last week.

Next year’s All-Star Game will be held at Citizens Bank Park, and if Schwarber wants to compete as a member of the Phillies, he’ll need to sign an extension after the season.

Through 90 games this year, he’s batting .251 with 63 RBIs and a .924 OPS—the highest OPS of his Phillies tenure.

The Phillies currently sit 53–37 atop the NL East, thanks in large part to Schwarber. If he departs via free agency, they’ll face a significant void in the heart of the order.
