The Sacramento Kings missed out on another former trade target on Monday after a three-team trade between the Los Angeles Clippers, Utah Jazz and Miami Heat took place.
Kings Miss Out on Another Former Trade Target After Clippers, Jazz Trade originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The Sacramento Kings entered the offseason expected to make some changes to their roster after another disappointing season last year saw them miss the playoffs once again.
Sacramento has been busy this summer as they selected both Nique Clifford and Maxime Raynaud in the 2025 NBA Draft.
They then signed Dennis Schroder in free agency to fill their need at the starting point guard position and also traded Jonas Valanciunas to the Denver Nuggets in exchange for Dario Saric.
While the Kings have already made these moves, more may be on the way as they have reportedly been searching for a trade for star forward DeMar DeRozan and backup shooting guard Malik Monk.
Despite these two possibly being on the move this summer, Sacramento has missed out on two of their reported trade targets from last season in Cameron Johnson and John Collins.
Of course, Johnson was traded by the Brooklyn Nets to the Denver Nuggets earlier this offseason in a deal that sent Michael Porter Jr. to Brooklyn.
This came after many teams showed interest in Johnson during last season’s trade deadline and into the offseason, including the Kings.
On Monday, Sacramento saw another one of their former trade targets be moved as the Utah Jazz sent John Collins to the Los Angeles Clippers in a three-team trade that saw the Clippers send Norman Powell to the Miami Heat.

Sacramento reportedly had interest in Collins ahead of last season’s trade deadline but after dealing De’Aaron Fox to the San Antonio Spurs and landing Zach LaVine from the Chicago Bulls, they did not pursue a trade for him.
Despite this, the Kings did have interest in Collins but they will now have to look elsewhere to upgrade their roster with both him and Johnson off the trade market as Sacramento tries to turn their franchise around entering next season.
