He's ready for another chance.
Head coach that took $76M buy-out looking for a return to the sidelines originally appeared on The Sporting News
Two years after a record-breaking $76 million buyout ended his Texas A&M tenure, Jimbo Fisher says he’s not done with coaching. Speaking on the “Trials to Triumph” podcast, the 59-year-old former national champion made it clear he’s open to returning to the sidelines if the right job comes along.
Fisher says he’s ready for the right opportunity
“I’m in great shape, I’m healthy, and I’ve had success everywhere I’ve been,” Fisher said. “The end at Texas A&M was unfortunate, but I still love coaching. I’ve got a lot to give.”
From National Champion to unfinished business
Fisher built a strong resume at Florida State, going 83-23 and winning the 2013 national title along with three straight ACC championships. In College Station, he posted a 45-25 record from 2018 to 2023, including a No. 4 finish in 2020, the highest in school history.
Injuries at quarterback and offensive struggles plagued his final seasons, but Fisher says his overall record speaks for itself: a 72 percent win rate and an 80 percent mark in playoff games.

Life in the studio, eyes on the field
Since leaving Texas A&M, Fisher has worked as an analyst for the ACC Network and will appear on the “ACC Huddle” this season. But the pull of the game remains strong.
“I miss the relationships with players,” Fisher said. “I’d be very interested in still doing it. I’d like to get back out there.”
College football will get underway on Saturday, August 23 as the Iowa State Cyclones take on the Kansas State Wildcats in a huge Big 12 tilt to kick it off. Fresno State is also at Kansas and Stanford invades Hawaii that day.
