Expectations are incredibly high on the LSU Tigers going into the 2025 season. They return several key players all around the roster, which should make them threats in the SEC. Still, there’s work to do along the offensive line before the season gets underway.
With Fall Camp now in full swing, LSU head coach Brian Kelly has been focused on his offensive line. In particular, he recently explained that he is focused on seeing development to the team’s depth at that unit.
“Some of it is because we’re trying to develop depth along the offensive line,” Brian Kelly said. “It’s not necessarily the starters. It might be an Ory Williams, might be a Carius Curne, a Brett Bordelon at the center position. So, my eyes go towards those guys that maybe we don’t watch as much. Because everybody’s got their eyes on the starters. I can watch them on film, very rarely do we get the opportunity to evaluate those younger players in a technical standpoint.”
Last season, LSU had some standout players across the offensive line. That, most notably, included Will Campbell, who became a first round NFL Draft pick. Emery Jones, Miles Frazier, and Garrett Dellinger would all also go later in the draft. That’s forced last season’s depth to largely move into starting roles. On top of that, Kelly dipped into the Transfer Portal for a pair of linemen. LSU also had four offensive linemen in their 2025 recruiting class to replenish.
There is plenty of reason to be confident that LSU will be able to replace those starters moving on to the NFL. The challenge for Kelly is backfilling the depth, which largely needs to be developed before the season, in case the Tigers find themselves being tested by injury issues.
“I try to keep an eye on the depth and the guys that we’re gonna need,” Kelly said. “In case we have some injuries. So, my focus is primarily on each drill, the next guy in. What is he doing? Whether it’s Colin Hurley, and addressing some of Colin Hurley’s — he’s a very talented player. What are some of the little things that he needs to continue to do? With the wide receivers, if you want to be a consistent performer, you’ve got to be locked in every play. We have some young guys that kind of lose it for a little bit. So, I’ll remind you. So, that’s generally what I’m trying to do throughout the practice.”
LSU still has a few weeks before the regular season is underway. Still, Brian Kelly and the Tigers know that they’re going to be tested right away this year. The Tigers are traveling to Clemson on August 30th for a game against one of the ACC favorites.
