The 2025-26 Premier League season is yet to get underway, but the jury is already out on how far the Chelsea team can go under Enzo Maresca this season.
While some people believe that the Blues can go all the way and challenge for the Premier League title, some others believe that they lack the necessary quality to win the league.
Former Liverpool defender, Jamie Carragher, believes that Enzo Maresca’s team will not be able to challenge for the title because of one key reason: their goalkeeper.
Carragher believes that the current Chelsea goalkeeper, Robert Sanchez, lacks the necessary quality to lead the Blues to a Premier League title.
Interestingly, Chelsea have been heavily linked with signing a new goalkeeper all summer long, but are yet to succeed in their efforts.
In this scenario, it has been reported that Chelsea will continue with Sanchez in goal for the upcoming season.

Jamie Carragher believes Chelsea don’t have the goalkeeper to win the Premier League
Chelsea’s goalkeeping situation has been a topic of discussion for some time now.
While discussing Chelsea’s title credentials on the Overlap, Carragher said, “Chelsea started winning the leagues when they bought Petr Cech in… No matter what Chelsea have done or what they’ve spent, they can’t win the league because they haven’t got a goalkeeper to win the league.”

While Carragher does have a case about Sanchez in Chelsea’s goal, it must be remembered that Sanchez did manage to redeem himself towards the end of the last season and during the Club World Cup.
Additionally, Sanchez is relatively young for a goalkeeper and will only get better with time and experience. Though Chelsea may not win the league in the upcoming season with Sanchez in goal, the possibility of it eventually happening cannot be ruled out.
