The first week of the NBA free agency period has passed, with the moratorium having been lifted already, meaning signings can officially be done.

The Sacramento Kings didn't necessarily find a new direction during free agency. They agreed to a deal with former Detroit Pistons guard Dennis Schroder, which only keeps them in the NBA purgatory.

With a compilation of win-now talents, spearheaded by Zach LaVine, DeMar DeRozan and Domantas Sabonis, the Kings aren't in a position to land a strong draft pick and future franchise talent.

Sacramento also isn't good enough to make any real postseason noise.

With this, they'll be expected to be active in the coming trade deadline and offseason periods as they desperately need a real direction.

Malik Monk remains a really solid contributor, though he doesn't quite fit with the Kings' current roster makeup, making him a prime candidate to be traded.

Sacramento has yet to find a fit in a deal to send Monk to a new organization, though that could change soon.

The Washington Wizards struck a trade to land Cam Whitmore, a forward with high upside, meaning they could move Corey Kispert to a new team in a trade, according to Evan Sidery.

Given the two sides' current situation, the Wizards and Kings could very well swap Kispert and Monk in a fairly even trade, according to a mock trade by Kings on SI's Will Zimmerle.

A straight-up swap for Kispert and Monk allows the Kings guard to go to a situation to explore his potential, while Kispert is in a position to make an impact on a team's playoff race.

In Sacramento, Kispert's 3-point shooting ability would be quite valuable, especially with their current core of players.

Monk has an explosive ability that would be unique for the Wizards as they put together a young core and fun team that can play carefree basketball.

Kispert, on the other hand, would be a strong addition alongside Sacramento's current roster. Now that the team has added Schroder, Monk won't have to start at the point guard position, though he'd likely return to his sixth man role if not traded.
